Who says there's an off-season! We might have more to talk about than ever on this edition of Hoops Heaven's Basketball Hustle as we bring you all the latest NBL and basketball news, and a very special interview.
The Writer Chris Pike and The Scoring Machine Shawn Redhage are back with another episode and open up discussing 'The Last Dance' documentary featuring Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls that has taken the world by storm with its 10 episodes.
Talk then turns to the latest NBL news including the clouded future of the Illawarra Hawks and the latest player news for #NBL21 including Shawn's thoughts on the chances of Bryce Cotton and Nick Kay remaining in Perth, and where Harry Froling might prove a good fit.
It's then time for our special interview and it's Chicago-native Andre Brown who drops by for a fascinating, in-depth discussion. He looks back on a remarkable career that included becoming a DePaul University Hall of Famer, playing 75 games in the NBA and playing with distinction in Italy, South Korea, Mongolia and indeed Australia in the NBL at the Perth Wildcats where he ended up replacing Shawn Redhage for the remainder of the 2010/11 season.
Andre has some fascinating insights into 'The Last Dance' documentary from the viewpoint of someone from Chicago while also offering an update on what COVID-19 has been like for him and his family in Florida as well as where life has taken him in the nine years since his stint in Perth.
He has plenty of fond memories and terrific stories to share about his time in Perth as well, along with some sage advice he received from Juwan Howard about playing overseas and even talks about being father now to a newborn son and a teenage daughter who has graduated high school.
Chris and Shawn then return to discuss the cancellation of the SBL season in WA and The Scoring Machine then finishes up by announcing the toughest team he has played against, and has a final statement to make about Michael Jordan.

Hoops Heaven's Basketball Hustle - Stephen Weigh Episode
Tuesday May 05, 2020
Tuesday May 05, 2020
What off-season? Plenty happening right now in the world of the NBL and basketball and it's only fitting that we are back with another episode of Hoops Heaven's Basketball Hustle to discuss it all along with providing a very special guest.
COVID-19 has thrown the world into chaos and the NBL is no different and the Perth Wildcats were rocked with the news that Bryce Cotton would opt-out of his contract. This episode was recorded just days before the opt-out deadline as speculation ran rampant over what other big names would join Cotton.
NBL Writer Chris Pike and The Scoring Machine Shawn Redhage dissect all of that with Redhage offering his own unique insight and perspective on the departure of Cotton, what it means for him and the Wildcats, and also the NBL's decision to cut salaries for the upcoming season and indeed the free agency period that has now been delayed until July 1.
It's then time for our special guest of this episode and it's 277-game NBL championship winning star Stephen Weigh. Having split his time in the NBL as a teammate of Shawn's in Perth and then an opponent in Adelaide and Cairns, it's a unique chance to hear the pair reconnect for the first time in several years.
Weigh is open and honest about reflecting on his 10-year professional basketball career, talks about the challenges of transitioning to the next phase of life and how happy he is to be back in Rockhampton and working with his family business, Ian Weigh Toyota.
There's plenty more covered in a fascinating and wide-ranging chat featuring a player that often goes under the radar, but over 277 games in the NBL he was as important, effective and versatile on his teams as anyone not to mention a remarkably hard worker.
